Meet the Doctor

   Michael C. Glafkides, MD, FACS

A Bay Area native, Dr. Glafkides retains strong ties to the community. He was raised in San Mateo County and continues to reside on the peninsula with his wife and children. His father, who practiced internal medicine on the peninsula for forty years, first inspired Dr. Glafkides’ interest in medicine.

Dr. Glafkides' personal and professional standards have evolved from his family and educational experiences and include excellence of performance, good character, and personal virtue. This compilation of values serves as the foundation of his practice.

Personal Passion

An interest in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery was fostered by Dr. Glafkides’ undergraduate education at Stanford University, where he majored in Psychology. While writing his senior thesis on the psychological benefits of support groups for women with metastatic breast cancer, Dr. Glafkides became interested in the opportunity to help women reclaim their confidence, self-image, and sexuality through reconstructive surgery of the breast. This sensitivity to human emotions combined with extensive and specialized training in plastic and reconstructive surgery make Dr. Glafkides uniquely qualified to treat every patient individually, according to the specific goals and needs of each.

Dr. Glafkides is a Board Certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon. Former Chief of Plastic Surgery at Mills-Peninsula Hospitals, his specialized training and skills encompass cosmetic surgery of the face and body, comprising procedures such as Breast Augmentation, Breast Reconstruction and Reduction, Liposuction, Tummy Tuck, Eyelid Surgery, and Facelifts.

Dr. Glafkides also provides facial aesthetic treatments including Botox and Dysport Injections, Juvederm and Restylane Injections.
